Site Map

  1. Assist patient to achieve and maintain total abstinence.

  2. Introduce patient to a support group of peers and assist patient to develop a relationship of trust and mutual concern.

  3. Educate patient and family members to the disease concept of addiction.

  4. Introduce patient and family members to 12-Step fellowships and the 12-Step philosophy of recovery.

  5. Integrate family members into the recovery process by assisting in the improvement of communication skills and the clarification of personal boundaries.

  6. Assist patient to identify personal relapse triggers and develop a relapse prevention plan.

  7. Assist patient to develop a recovery plan that includes referrals to address issues not dealt with in treatment.
  1. Intensive individual counseling or therapy. Individual counseling should be geared toward support, accountability, and re-directing the patient to using the peer group, allowing the patient to develop trust with others.

  2. Family or couples therapy. During the course of treatment each patient will benefit from one or two sessions with our family therapist, but it is the belief of the Genesis Program that patients and their families first need a foundation of education and sobriety or they tend to defocus onto issues other than sobriety and recovery.

  3. Attempt to treat every kind of compulsive behavior, lumping them all under the umbrella term "behavioral health." We are a chemical dependency program and we believe that learning how to be drug-free is primary to treating other issues. We do address compulsive or self-destructive kinds of behavior in terms of potential relapse triggers. We are not a dual-diagnosis program.
