Genesis Programs is a free-standing addiction treatment program dedicated to helping those seeking recovery from alcohol and other drug dependence. We provide outpatient programs to help people build a foundation in sobriety while continuing to work and function in their regular life roles.

Genesis Programs is, first and foremost, a chemical dependency treatment program.  We believe that learning how to live drug-free is primary to treating other issues.  We address compulsive and self-destructive patterns of behavior in terms of potential relapse triggers.  We have learned that the symptoms of alcoholism and addiction often mimic the symptoms of psychiatric illness and that the establishment of sobriety is key to both the diagnosis and treatment of these issues.

Our program is a mixture of education, individual counseling, group therapy and family counseling.  We believe that all individual counseling should be geared toward support, accountability and redirecting the patient to using the peer group, allowing the patient to develop trust with others.

We provide a foundation of knowledge and support for our patients and family members.  We believe that it is essential to treat the whole family system, helping everyone to gain understanding of the impact of addiction on the family.  We have learned that only with a foundation of education can the healing process begin for the family.

We believe that an advantage of outpatient treatment is that our patients learn basic recovery concepts and apply them in a real-life setting as opposed to the artificial environment of a residential treatment setting.  Some may initially need the more intensified structure of residential treatment, but outpatient treatment is a necessary follow-up to practice application of recovery tools in their home environment.

Our primary treatment goals are these:

  • Assist our patients to achieve and maintain total abstinence.
  • Introduce our patients to a support group of peers and assist our patients to develop relationships of trust a mutual concern.
  • Introduce our patients and family members to the disease model of addiction.
  • Introduce our patients and family members to 12-Step fellowships and the 12-Step philosophy of recovery.
  • Integrate family members into the recovery process by assisting in the improvement of communication skills and the clarification of personal boundaries.
  • Assist our patients to identify personal relapse triggers and develop a relapse prevention plan.
  • Assist patient to develop a recovery plan that includes referrals to address issues not dealt with in treatment.
