The Genesis Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is a level of care that offers a high level of structure and accountability. It is designed for those patients are still functioning at their job, and who have a good support system at home.
Placement into the Intensive Outpatient Program is based on clinical assessment. Admission into any level of care begins with a thorough pre-admission assessment by a member of the Genesis counseling staff. An individualized treatment plan is developed for each patient and length of stay is determined by the accomplishment of objectives agreed upon by patient, staff, and utilization review personnel.
The IOP program meets four (4) sessions weekly for three (3) hours each session. There are both morning and evening groups to allow for the varied work schedules of our patients. A full course of treatment lasts up to twelve (12) weeks. The length of the Genesis program is significant because it reflects our belief that the kind of major changes we ask of our patients take time.
The Aftercare Program is designed to assist patients in early recovery by maximizing the benefits gained during the initial intensive phase of treatment. This is accomplished through a series of educational components and peer support groups. The educational sessions maintain our philosophy that recovery is an ongoing process for the patient which involves a commitment to emotional and spiritual growth and physical well-being. Aftercare groups provide support and assistance with problem solving which serves as a bridge form the primary treatment setting to a stronger relationship with the individual's 12-Step Program of Recovery.
Patients who have completed the initial phase of treatment return one evening per week for 1 year following discharge. Each meeting shall last approximately 1 1/2 hours and incorporates both a 25-minute educational module with a one hour peer support group. Feedback between participants, developing problem solving skills, and identification of early relapse warning signs are emphasized throughout Aftercare.
The Genesis Aftercare group is also the foundation of the Alumni Association, which sponsors social activities for Genesis Program graduates throughout the year.
